The Cornell Baker Program in Real Estate is proud to welcome 1994 Cornell Graduate John Kinzelberg ’94 to campus. With over two decades worth of experience within Real Estate and Private Equity, Kinzelberg will provide sharp advice on navigating the ever-changing spectrum of the industry.

In 2012, Kinzelberg co-founded Highgate Capital Group in Chicago, Illinois where the company focuses on the acquisition and asset management of multi-family properties across the United States in high growth markets. The firm currently has 1,200 units with an aggregate cost over $71 million.

With an extensive history, Kinzelberg has served in numerous decision-making positions after his MBA matriculation from the Columbia Business School in 2001. Initially responsible for due diligence and financial analysis at Mesirow Stein Real Estate, he secured over $790 million of debt and equity capital for both commercial and residential real estate.

As a rising star, Kinzelberg filled the role of Vice President upon joining Waterton Associates, a national multi-family investment advisor for private institutions. There his direction led to acquisitions investing in more than $141 million of equity in multi-family assets, and obtained subordinated and distressed debt with an aggregate loan balance of $232 million secured by 35,100 multi-family units. With this joint understanding in the equity and debt markets, John will undoubtedly bring a unique perspective for discussion and review.
