Since the Great Recession of 2008 and 2009, multi-family residential properties have led the resurgence of the real estate market; however, some analysts are beginning to wonder how long this trend will continue. To discuss the current state of the multi-family residential market, the Baker Program in Real Estate is excited to welcome B. Kevin Thompson and Gwyneth Cote of Bell Partners to campus and the Distinguished Speaker Series on Thursday, February 4, 2016.
Bell Partners is a private real estate company, headquartered in Greensboro, NC, that is focused on the acquisition and management of of high-quality apartment communities located throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Southwest United States. The company manages a portfolio of nearly 70,000 homes across 16 states and has completed nearly $11 billion of apartment transactions since 2002.
B. Kevin Thompson joined Bell Partners in 2012 after working at Avalon Bay and at different consumer packaged good companies. Mr. Thompson is responsible for conceptualizing and executing corporate and property marketing strategies, including oversight of media planning and advertising, public relations and corporate communications, interactive marketing programs, merchandising and other brand guardianship initiatives. He also provides direction for the marketing staff in the day-to-day coordination and execution of marketing programs with the site teams. Mr. Thompson received his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Kentucky University and is active on multiple advisory boards in North Carolina.
Gwyneth Cote joined Bell Partners in January 2013 and serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO) after working as consultant to multiple real estate companies and at Avalon Bay for 15 years. Ms. Cote serves on the Executive and Investment Committees and, as COO, is responsible for the daily operations of approximately 65,000 apartment homes. She oversees all operating platforms, including property management, revenue management, human resources, training, marketing, purchasing, and utilities. Ms. Cote earned her MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and her BA from Swarthmore College.
