Each Thursday during the Baker Program in Real Estate’s Distinguished Speaker Series an industry veteran takes time to discuss their business with students from the program. Director Dustin Jones makes sure to have a well-rounded and well respected cohort of speakers who relish the opportunity to engage with the students. This week, the Baker Program in Real Estate would like to welcome Jason Kaye ’07, Vice President at Citi Community Capital, who will join the students to discuss his role in Citi’s community finance arm.

Mr. Kaye joined Citi in 2011 to manage Citi Community Capital’s New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC), and private equity portfolios. He eventually transitioned to the project finance team. Citi Community Capital has several core competencies, which include investment banking, lending, trading, permanent loans, and Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). CCC lends and invests over $3 billion per year throughout the United States, and Mr. Kaye plays a major role in the lending of monies, primarily focusing on affordable multifamily developments.

Prior to joining Citi, Jason worked at Trufund Financial Services, where he underwrote community development loans, and was responsible for deal sourcing, capital raising, execution of NMTC investments, as well as leveraged lending. Jason started his career as an analyst at the NYC Economic Development Corporation under Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and cut his teeth working on the Mayor’s South Bronx Initiative. This comprised various city agencies supporting revitalization of the South Bronx.

A magna cum laude graduate of Binghamton University, Jason holds an M.R.P. from Cornell University and an M.S. in real estate finance from NYU, where he completed the Credit Training Program. He holds a Series 52 license (Municipal Securities Representative).
