Within the Cornell real estate community, few development projects have been as eagerly anticipated as Cornell’s new Tech Campus on Roosevelt Island. This campus promises to be a connective hub, where students and tech professionals come together to explore and refine new technologies and ideas. At the center of this hub will be The Bridge at Cornell Tech, a 242,000 sq. ft. office building that looks to bring the worlds of academia and industry together under one roof.

Kate Bicknell, Senior Vice President, Forest City Ratner

To bring such a transformative space to light, Cornell has partnered with leading developer Forest City Ratner, a company known for making waves in the New York City real estate market. The company was selected as the master developer for the first phase of Cornell Tech, which is expected to open in mid-2017. Leading this project for Forest City Ratner is Senior Vice President Kate Bicknell, a graduate of Cornell (’99) and a rising star in the real estate development world. This Thursday, students of the Baker Program in Real Estate will have the incredible privilege of hosting Bicknell as this week’s distinguished speaker.

Bicknell graduated from Cornell with a Bachelor’s degree in City Planning and began her career as a legislative aid in Washington DC. She spent several years at Smart Growth America, where she worked as a federal policy director and was responsible for helping to secure the passage of the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfield Revitalization Act. Bicknell earned her MBA from the Wharton School of Business and has been with Forest City Ratner since 2005.

The Baker Program is pleased to welcome Bicknell back to campus and students and faculty alike are excited to learn more about the progress being made at Cornell Tech.
