Forsgate General Partner:       Alex Klatskin

This week, the Baker Program in Real Estate welcomes Alex Klatskin to the Distinguished Speaker Series. Mr. Klatskin is a General Partner at Forsgate Industrial Partners, a private industrial real estate firm based New Jersey. As one of the premier industrial firms in the Northeast, Forsgate holds a significant amount of A+ industrial space backed by high credit tenants like Audi, Coca-Cola, Fed Ex, Volkswagen and Pepsi.

Forsgate was founded in the 1960’s, and began by purchasing parcels of land in Meadowlands. In the 1970’s, Forsgate had the vision to purchase 500 acres of land on the exit 8A of the New Jersey Turnpike, halfway between Boston and Washington DC. The company typically looks to acquire assets in under-utilized areas that have excellent transportation access and requisite infrastructure in place.  Klatskin has been able to capitalize on this strategy to great effect.

Before joining Forsgate in 1992, Klatskin worked with the New York City architectural firm of Kohn, Pedersen, Fox and Associates. He is a member of the Board of Regents of the American Architectural Foundation, a member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects, has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Roundtable in Wahington D.C., and was the 2011 National Chairman of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.

Klatskin holds a BS from the University of Illinois and a Master of Architecture from the University of Maryland. He is a Registered Architect in New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia, and a licensed Professional Planner in New Jersey. He lives in New York City with his wife and their two children.
