This is the motto to live by proclaims David Doupe (BS ’78) of Jones Lang LaSalle, who has built his career on molding and cultivating successful relationships within the real estate industry. Doupe is the International Director of the firm’s Capital Markets Group based out of the companies West Los Angeles office. Cornell University welcomes Doupe on October 23, 2014 when he will be addressing the Baker Program in Real Estate students during the weekly Distinguished Speaker Series.
Doupe will provide students with a unique perspective on one of the world’s largest publically traded commercial real estate brokerage firms. Jones Lang LaSalle specializes in a wide array of commercial real estate services including but not limited to; Agency Leasing, Capital Markets, Energy and Sustainability, Investment Management, Project and Development Services, Property and Asset Management and Valuation and Advisory. Doupe offers students a complex look in to the world of brokerage both on a national and international level.
Preceding his employment with Jones Lang LaSalle, Doupe was an Executive Vice President for 6 years at CB Richard Ellis/Insignia/ESG where he specialized in large scale investment and note sales, joint venture structures and debt placement. In 1995, Doupe co-founded The Greenwich Group, a New York based international real estate investment banking firm. The firm was formed through a buyout of a division of Kennedy Wilson which Doupe had been a part of since 1992. Prior to Kennedy Wilson, Doupe was employed by the Financial Services Group of Cushman & Wakefield where in 1989 he won the top broker award in the nation for the division. During his time prior to Jones Lang LaSalle, Doupe gained an immense amount of international investment experience in Australia, Southeast Asia, Japan, Hong Kong, China and Korea. Doupe also spent the first decade of his career as an interim construction lender and commercial mortgage banker.
Doupe is a frequent speaker on both US and International real estate capital markets. The Baker students are looking forward to hearing from a professional in the industry with such a comprehensive background in international investment and capital placement. “I am extremely excited to be able to hear from someone in the industry who has been successful at the international level structuring large scale real estate transactions” said Ryan Chao (Baker ’16). Doupe has completed in excess of $13 billion of capital markets transactions including but not limited to; high rise and suburban office portfolios, resorts, regional malls, power centers, multifamily residential and both performing and nonperforming note sales.
