Alex Popov ’98, a Managing Director at Highbridge Principal Strategies, will visit with students from the Baker Program in Real Estate during this week’s distinguished speaker series on Thursday, March 3rd. Based in New York, Highbridge Principal Strategies is a global credit and private investment firm with approximately $16 billion in assets under management.
Popov is responsible for real estate credit investment activities, and serves as a member of the board of the Joint Venture between HPS and The Related Companies, which will manage a new real estate credit investment platform. The fund was established in 2013 to provide capital to real estate assets in transition, and will draw upon HPS’s deep knowledge of credit investments and mezzanine financing.
Prior to Joining HPS in 2008, Mr. Popov worked at Oaktree Capital Management focusing on credit investments across various sectors. Earlier in his career Mr. Popov worked at American Capital Strategies and the investment bank Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ). Mr. Popov earned his MBA degree from the NYU Stern School of Business and a bachelors degree from the Hotel School at Cornell University.
