CBRE Americas Head of Research Spencer Levy Visits the Baker Program

For this week’s Distinguished Speaker Series, students of the Baker Program will have the pleasure of hosting Spencer Levy, Americas Head of Research for CBRE. In his role, Levy plays an integral part in planning and executing the global research strategies of CBRE. As head of research for the Americas, Levy oversees the work of the CBRE research community, a group of hundreds of professionals who produce market-leading research within the commercial real estate industry. He also directly supports CBRE executives and high-profile clients by providing insights into market trends and strategic business planning.

Levy joined CBRE in 2007 as an Executive Managing Director within the Capital Markets Group. In subsequent years his responsibilities within Capital Markets expanded to include oversight for Retail, Auction, and Investment Banking operations. His leadership roles included stewardship over numerous markets across the United States and South America. In 2010, Levy won CBRE’s Gary J Beban Teamwork Award, which acknowledges professionals who take a multi-disciplinary approach to client service.

Prior to joining CBRE, Levy was a principal at Stifel Nicolaus, a leading investment bank serving the real estate industry. While there he played a significant role in M&A, IPO and private capital-raising activities. Before that, he served as assistant general counsel at the Witkoff Group and was an attorney at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson and Jones Day Reavis & Pogue.

Levy is the principal external spokesperson for CBRE on real estate issues in the Americas region. He is also a frequent speaker before industry groups such as NAIOP, ICSC and CREW. His market commentary frequently appears in many national outlets and he maintains an active conversation surrounding commercial real estate issues on his twitter feed.

Levy is a graduate of Cornell University and Harvard Law School. He currently resides in Owings Mill, Maryland, with his wife and three children.
