The Cornell Baker Program in Real Estate is pleased to announce Aref H. Lahham as the next guest of the 2016-2017 Distinguished Speaker Series held weekly on campus. Aref serves as the Managing Director and Founding Partner of Orion Capital Managers, L.P. He directs the acquisition activities at the firm throughout Europe, and leads the asset management practice in France.
Aref has over 28 years of real estate and development experience. He has worked on projects throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Developments he has led have been mentioned in The Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, and other international publications.
Orion Capital Managers LLP is a European real estate investment firm. The firm has offices in Madrid, London, Milan and Paris. Orion’s business is commercial real estate investment management on behalf of major investors from around the world. Orion has sponsored five Funds with over €10 billion of total investments.
As a founding partner at Orion, Aref has led the purchase on numerous value add transactions. One large development he led was a £300 million luxury housing development in London’s upscale Chelsea neighborhood. Known as “The Glebe”, the development comprises of nine residencies including six apartments, a two story penthouse, and two five story villas. The properties were all priced at £25 million and up.
Aref graduated from Purdue University as a member of the Class of 1986 with his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering. He then enrolled at Cornell University and graduated in 1987 with his Masters of Civil Engineering. His work experience prior to starting Orion includes serving as a Managing Director at Lasalle Investment Management.
